This was on page 43 of [livejournal.com profile] dreaminoflorien's beautiful and utterly insane nomination list for the HP fic masterlist.

PAGE 43. I READ 43 PAGES OF COMMENTS TO FIND THIS.

IT'S REALLY GOOD.

I started reading thru the list of nominated fics for the HP fic masterlist at [livejournal.com profile] dreaminoflorien's journal and Found You For The First Time is on it! On the second page, even! And I didn't put it there!

[livejournal.com profile] k_marauders, [livejournal.com profile] silver_argento, [livejournal.com profile] lucymaypotter and [livejournal.com profile] dark_elf_lady, you just made my day. Love! Kisses! Hugs! Now attempting to finish other stories!

I just read a JKR interview in which she implies a certain annoyance with fandom. Specifically, with our longing for slash.

Bah! I say. We treat the pups better than she does. Which it turns out that I needed to demonstrate.

Be warned: this be so very angsty.

I reread Fandom-Pillory's exponentially hot fic, The Collar a few days ago, and suddenly couldn't stop wondering what happened to the collar post-MWPP @ Hogwarts. So I wrote this.

Title: What to Keep
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing/Character-focus: Remus/Sirius (past), Remus, Harry

Two months after Sirius fell, Molly suggested to Remus, gently, that it was time to start going through his belongings and deciding what to keep. )

I can't write HP fanfic, and that pisses me off.

I remind myself, when I am attempting to do so and notice steam coming out of my ears, that I loved Firefly fanfic for a good six months before I started writing it )

Anyway, it's been an hour since I started writing this rant, and I've now convinced myself that I'm over-reacting, so I'm going to go read some Captain Underpants books and find a non-creepy way to watch kids in the park, and, armed with that knowledge, I'll try an R/S pairing again, later.

ETA: Notes about updating this list )I, like many other no-longer-newbie fangirls and fanboys, owe a large debt of gratitude to [livejournal.com profile] musesfool for creating her So, PoA Finally Convinced You That SB/RL Is Canon! Here's The Fic You Must Read! wide-ranging and quality-controlled rec list.

Sadly, time, and the unfortunate reality that people retool websites and leave fandoms, has meant that many of her links have expired.

Here are the ones I could find replacements for.

Updated Links for <i>So, PoA Finally Convinced You That SB/RL is Canon )

This is what I think is a productive use of my vacation time. :-)

I'm grateful for the rec lists that propelled me into fandom, since this is the internets and it's difficult to filter out crap. I figured it was time that I returned the favour. Thus, I've compiled a list of my favourite fics in this category. I’ve tried hard not to repeat other people’s rec lists, but there’s some overlap because there are stories just too awesome not to mention.

Please pay attention to ratings, and don’t read the R or NC-17 stuff if you aren’t of age.

I’ve used authors’ own summaries and ratings where available. When they weren’t (or if they were exceptionally vague), I tried to create appropriate ones. I’ve based my categories on the breakdown [livejournal.com profile] musesfool used in her own recc list, because it is sensible and useful.

All links valid when posted. Please comment if you find anything that’s not working.

Also, this is a WiP, since I feel that's the only sensible tack to take with rec lists. I will add pieces of awesomeness as I find them. I apologize for the extreme slimness of some of the categories. Most of the Lie Low at Lupins stuff I have read and loved has already been recc'd vigorously by others, and I get all weepy with the Sirius in Azkaban/ Remus' Lost Years pieces.
