Sunday Recs Post: Things I Found That You Might Like

Star Trek owns me this week. I hope you don't mind terribly!

Trek
(all recs are Reboot 'verse, except for one, which is marked)

Two gen recs, both from the same author: [profile] _seven_crows wrote Search And Rescue, an awesome no-pairing (well, Kirk/Spock if you squint) team!fic adventure story where Jim's been kidnapped (and beaten up, and chained) and Spock & McCoy must rescue him.

She also wrote the fantastic Murphy's Law of Jim Kirk Diplomacy, where Kirk, Spock & McCoy are stranded in a malfunctioning shuttle.

Recs: Jim Kirk-Centric
[personal profile] ayalesca wrote Timeout, about how Jim hacked the Kobayashi Maru. (With a side helping of Kirk/McCoy for good measure!) (NC-17)

[personal profile] green wrote How To Win Friends & Influence Vulcans, a hilarious short piece about Jim trying to make Spock into his best friend, because the mind meld with Spock!Prime showed him what he's missing. Spock is not so easily befriended.

Recs: Kirk/McCoy
[personal profile] affectingly wrote Falling Off The Face Of The Earth. Drunken, post-mission, angsty shaky sex. Great characterization. (NC-17, first-time)

[profile] cidercupcakes wrote Me & Crazy Janey, in which Jim is and has always been a girl, and is that much more of a brat because of it. Long-suffering!Bones is long-suffering.

[personal profile] ethrosdemon wrote Don't accept a ride from James T. Kirk. Walk., which is Kirk & McCoy, being Kirk/McCoy. Awesome view of their deepening relationship while they're at the Academy. Jim is a brat. McCoy is long-suffering. There isn't a lot of angsting 'cause they're men and would rather drink than talk about their feelings. It's great. (NC-17)

In the newly developing and totally awesome category of girl!Bones fics, [profile] londondrowning wrote and you take me the way i am. Excerpt: Jim is a big fan of girls fucking around! He was merely expressing surprise that Bones, his friend who spends all her time studying or hanging out with him, is showing a new interest in having a social life when she has previously not expressed this kind of interest before. (NC-17, jealousy, first-time, buddies)

She also wrote I'm Just A Jealous Guy, in which McCoy is feeling a little left out of Jim's life, since Spock arrived. (They're all men in this one, no gender!fuckery.) And she wrote The Illustrated Man, in which Jim's flinching away from Bones' touch and he's a little pissed, to be honest.

[personal profile] svilleficrecs posted most of her untitled Jim/Leonard at the academy fic. WHICH IS AMAZING. Jim's fucked up, and Leonard's afraid of what he's getting into. (NC-17, kink)

Recs: Kirk/Spock
In the STXI Kink Meme, clever anonymous people wrote:
  • His Fingers, where Jim finds out about Vulcan hand sensitivity, and takes blatant advantage

  • Study Habits, where Spock has done research about appropriate human sexual behaviour

  • I Never, where Kirk & Spock play a drinking game, with the confessions but without the booze

  • [profile] kagedtiger wrote Future Bliss, where Spock suffers from the severing of his engagement bond with T'Pring, and Things Go Awry. (pon farr, NC-17)

[profile] ladyrogueevie wrote Tell Me Once, Tell Me Twice, where Kirk likes having hands on his throat, and Spock does it best. (NC-17 liek whoa, breathplay)

[personal profile] ragdoll987 Verbal Jump-Rope, where Jim, not Spock!Prime, must convince Spock to stay with the Enterprise.

[personal profile] raphaela667 wrote and they won't believe you when you write home about it, which is about Sulu and his love of scuttlebutt.

She also wrote Our Emotional History is In The Kitchen, in which Spock makes Jim go visit his mom.

Saavant wrote Points of Interest, where Jim has an ear fetish... for Spock. Total, utter crack. (ST:TOS, R)

[personal profile] spuffyduds wrote Strange Harvest, where aliens make them harvest weird-looking onion things. There's more to the ritual, but Jim failed to pay attention to the explanation, because he was too busy staring at Spock. (Humour, R, awesome)

[personal profile] vellum broke my brain with her hot-like-burning entry in the STXI Kink Meme, but still i want more, where Jim is dreaming in Spock's arms, and Spock figures out what he's dreaming about, and there's asleep sexin'. (NC-17)

[personal profile] waketosleep wrote When the Levee Breaks, which I feel is best described as "Protective!Spock is protective. Sexed-up!Jim is sexed-up". (NC-17, first-time)

    Recs: Kirk/Spock/Uhura
[personal profile] theonlytwin wrote 1001 Ain't Got Nothing On This, where Jim cheats. (NC-17)

[personal profile] wintercreek gets on the threesome train with not in the stars but in ourselves, where this time, when Spock goes into pon farr, both Kirk & Uhura are there to help. (NC-17)

    Rec: Kirk/Sulu
Yea, I said it! It's the other K/S! And the thought of it is kind of squirm-inducing hot, so it's a good thing that [personal profile] helens78 wrote Kind of Habit-Forming, where Hikaru keeps hooking up with the same blue-eyed stranger at an off-campus bar. (NC-17)

    Recs: Leonard McCoy-Centric
[personal profile] chaletian wrote It Takes A Village, which is about Bones figuring out what's the same as his country practice, and what's changed.

[personal profile] lunabee34 wrote Mend, which is about Bones being thrust into trauma medicine unexpectedly. A side order of Kirk/McCoy for good measure. (R)

    Recs: Nyota Uhura-centric
[personal profile] circadienne wrote Two Sides, a comparison of choices Uhura makes in both universes. Awesome. Not entirely clean, since life isn't. (Spock/Uhura in some cases not all, R)

[profile] mekosuchinae wrote oh two hundred, aka the one where we SEE Uhura being awesome, not just hear about it. And, oh god, SHE IS SO AWESOME. Excerpt: "I'm working on it," she said, already thinking of how to explain transporter technology to someone who might not know what it was in a language she had thought dead not two hours ago. (Spock/Uhura, gen, favourite)

[personal profile] moryssa wrote First Time. Excerpt: She had always assumed that it was just random chance that landed her with Gaila as a roommate. Surely there wasn't any sane being anywhere who actually placed the two of them together on purpose. I mean, they couldn't be more different.

[profile] mytsie wrote Familiarity: She'd tell Spock about it, but, if he wasn't an elder, he probably wouldn't know the man. (drabble, gen)

[profile] suzanne78 wrote The Test, where Uhura is reluctant to bring her dilemma to Spock, but does so anyway. Excellent. Makes me love her even more. (Spock/Uhura UST, precanon, gen)

    Rec: Spock-Centric
[profile] mekosuchinae wrote a quiet hour, which is a darling, darling wee piece about wee!Spock baking with his mom. He likes it! Because it has maths!

    Recs: Spock/Uhura
Some anonymous genius wrote What were your parents' professions? Because certain sections of your anatomy resemble fine baking, where Spock utterly fails at pick-up lines.

The STXI Kink Meme also yielded Response, where Uhura wants Spock to prove that he doesn't have tentacles.

[personal profile] iulia_linnea wrote Necessity, in which Spock really doesn't want to talk to the Vulcan elders about his responsibilities to the colony. (PG)

[profile] mekosuchinae wrote The Second Child, a god-help-me awesome story about Spock & Uhura's four-year-old daughter, demanding to hear the story of her birth.

[profile] monimala wrote Speaking In Tongues, which is a great "how it began!" story. (R)

[profile] monimala wrote Reason & Rhyme: There is a litany of things that Uhura never wants to hear after engaging in hours of passionate, athletic sex. Spock manages to erase everything off the list and add only one entry when he tugs on his formal Academy blacks and tells her, "I must return home to complete the ritual aspect of the pon farr-- and put an end to my betrothal." (NC-17)

[profile] taraljc wrote Ad Astra, which is pre, during and post-movie seen through the lens of Spock & Uhura's relationship. A very satisfying read. (NC-17)

[personal profile] tree_and_leaf wrote Putting on Civvies: Good Lord, she thought, he’s going to invite me to use the Familial Respect. (UST, sweetness)

    Everything Else
In Bones fandom, [personal profile] daygloparker wrote From the Greek Paradeigma, Meaning "Example", which is hands-down my favourite Bones-decides-to-have-a-baby fic, ever. SO GOOD. Everyone's voices are spot-on, and Sweets made me laugh 'till I snorted coffee out my nose.

In the woefully-neglected Ironman fandom, [personal profile] awanderingbard wrote Firefighter, about how Pepper got the job. SO GREAT. (Pepper Potts, gen)

    Recs: Merlin
Some anonymous wish-fulfillment elf wrote A Question of Power in the kink_me comm, where Arthur is bewitched to think he's Merlin's slave. Merlin tries to resist, but goddamnit, Arthur is persuasive. (NC-17)

Some other anonymous person wrote this untitled AU where Merlin is thrown into prison for his magic, Uther's the warden, and Morgana needs something. Delicious. (NC-17)

[personal profile] toestastegood is writing an untitled Merlin AU, where Merlin teaches kindergarten and Arthur is the dad of one of his students. Oh GOD the adorableness.

    Recs: SGA
[personal profile] holdur wrote The Paul Simon Songbook for the Coping Mechanisms challenge. Great John voice. (John Sheppard, character study)

[profile] mirabile_dictu wrote the great hurt/comfort fic The Three Hunters, where the team is in the wrong place when a tsunami strikes, and disaster occurs. (McKay/Sheppard, NC-17, h/c, awesome)

[personal profile] penknife wrote Boys' Night Out. Excerpt: "I think they are going to get very drunk, sing badly, and most likely return having been in a fight," Teyla says. "I have been 'shopping' with Ronon before." (team!fic, gen, drunkeness, awesome)

    I so totally need a Kirk/McCoy icon, and a Spock/Uhura one.
