Also, though? While I love West Wing, I do not understand why Danny Concannon and Mandy just... vanished. Was there explanation that I missed somewhere end of S1, beginning of S2? I liked Danny. He should come back.
Timothy Busfield had a short-lived show set in Hawaii, and then some directing projects. And I hate that they didn't (that I know of) resolve the Danny/C.J storyline.
And Mandy was just blah. She went into private lobbying and sort of fizzled. Also, Martin Sheen wasn't supposed to have such a large presense, but was absolutely electrifying, so they gave him a bigger part. Somebody had to go....too many players?
Mandy was universally hated by the whole of the West Wing watching public ... and so she was axed.
I was meh about her, myself, but I find it weird that she's just suddenly not there, and they don't even comment. Doesn't she deserve to at least have a line dropped, like "Oh, isn't it too bad Mandy decided to go work for UNICEF?" or even "Oh, isn't it too bad Mandy got hit by a bus?"
I don't really need plausibility, see. I just feel they left it dangling.
Yeah, the too many players bit makes sense. And I didn't _care_ so much about Mandy, I just felt that I'd missed something. Like how weird it felt to watch Serenity, accidentally cough during Mal's line "Guess I got to get 'nocked before we go planet side," and then wonder why the hell Simon was giving him an injection. (I figured it out the second or third viewing.)
I missed Danny during S2 because S2 is extremely light on the romance, and I really wanted some. I mean, Zoey disappears, Sam's friend (the high-class hooker) Laurie disappears, Danny disappears, Mallory disappears... the only romantic relationships left are Josh/Donna and Abby/Jed. What is THAT.
