Dudes. DUDES.

So, there's a comm called [livejournal.com profile] strangefandom where people try to figure out the plotlines of fandoms with which they're unfamiliar... by watching and analysing songvids.

(If you fail to understand why this is hysterically genius, imagine if Closer was all the information you had about the relationships and story arcs of ST:OS.)

Anyway, today I found the entry for SG:A. Excerpt:

Specifically, it's about the torrid love affair between Tough and Cuddles. Tough isn't sure he really is gay and keep rebuffing Cuddles's advances. [...] Since Cuddles is a genius and in love with Tough, he asks Pink Lady (I think I'm going to call her Grace Kelly :p) for advice. Grace Kelly does her best to make Cuddles the prettiest darn Stargatey guy that ever wore a uniform. Nothing seems to work though; no matter how many times he asks Grace Kelly for advice, Cuddles just keeps getting turned down. So he decides maybe he's better off becoming a better fighter to impress Tough. He chooses to shoot things and wave at Tough, and it works! Tough grabs him in a suitably manly fashion and they're off! There's kissing! And meeting excitedly in the hangar! And strolling through forests. Strolling is very important.

I AM HOOKED.

I found this comm last week (I think last week?)! And I was much amused! I very much laughed at this description:

Anders changes. He starts screwing all the cheerleaders and smacking McKay around. McKay just takes it with his little puppy face. THIS SHOW IS A TRAGIC STORY OF DOMESTIC ABUSE.

because this theme re:SGA somehow manages to come up in emails with a friend a lot. Mostly mockingly, but wow. It cracked me up.

I am also amused by the tale of Tough and Cuddles.

I am amused that the writer couldn't figure out Sheppard's name and dubbed him "Anders". Isn't Anders a character on Top Gun?

[identity profile] ana-grrl.livejournal.com 2007-11-25 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I think maybe they mean Anders from BSG?

[identity profile] merrilily.livejournal.com 2007-11-25 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha! Okay, yes, slight resemblance.

[identity profile] ana-grrl.livejournal.com 2007-11-25 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I just assumed it was because they both had dark hair!

Have you read the SGA/Mathnet crossover (http://thingswithwings.livejournal.com/19532.html) yet? Genius, I tell you! I mean, it's no ParticipAction, but it's still pretty great.

I haven't! Is it McKay/Sheppard? Because I'm taking a hiatus from that pairing.

...Mathnet?

Re: also

[identity profile] merrilily.livejournal.com 2007-11-25 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It could be read as pre-slash, but it's pretty much pairing-free. I think.

Mathnet! Didn't you watch that, back in the mid-80s? It was a Dragnet parody that ran as a segment on Square One, where the "cops" had calculators in their holsters and would shout "Freeze! Mathematicians!". They had to use mathematical principles to solve things. The opening voice-over was "The story you are about to read is a fib, but it's short. The names are made up, but the problems are real."

Anyway, in this one John is from Mathnet, and gets sent to Atlantis to be the Mathnet liasion.

Taking a break from the McShep? *whimper*

I mean, I guess if you're focusing on things with Lorne, that's okay.

I didn't watch Mathnet! I didn't actually watch much TV in the 80s. It sounds amusing, though!

and gets sent to Atlantis to be the Mathnet liasion.

...this sounds cracky. In a good way. *g*

I know this might get me thrown out of the fandom, but I've never been a huge McKay/Sheppard fan. Don't hate me!

There's no hating. :-) You've demonstrated the awesome power of Lorne enough that I think it's okay. And since I've managed to (nearly) get over my massive crush on David Hewlett ... no, wait, that's just not true.

Yay! for no hating!

to (nearly) get over my massive crush on David Hewlett

OH, I like McKay. I just like him with other people besides Sheppard. Like Lorne!

LiveJournal has gone wonky -- I dunno when you wrote this, or why I'm only seeing it now, but, to conclude, yah Lorne!

(Christmas is turning my brain to mush.)

Christmas is turning my brain to mush.

Seriously! I feel like I've been pretty mush-brained for the last month or so.

*smacks lj*

I don't know what's wrong with this program, but apparently it likes me lonely and not conversing.

Mush brain. Yes. Mine is. I'll be glad when January arrives, even though January in Toronto is rainy and windy, or snowy and mushy, and neither is particularly fun.

I miss being able to generate vitamin D as a natural process! Damn you, winter. DAMN YOU.
