Filled with Yuletide goodness!

(Standard PSA: In case you're new to my lj, I make these posts every Sunday. They're all tagged, for your convenience.)

The Joy of Sex Is Revised, and this time women are "participants." Oooo, radical.

Four Pillars Investing wrote Personal Finance According to Buffy, which is indeed very sound advice.

For all the ladies who would prefer to be made dinner or go scuba-diving or have someone put some thought into their gifts, here's an excellent vid about why giving jewelry is lame.

The Telegraph has a great article about weird words & bizarre phrases: Toujours Tingo. For example: Pisan zapra: Malay for the time needed to eat a banana.

Is It Fucked Up?: a useful flowchart.

Typo In Proposition 8 Defines Marriage As Between "One Man & One Wolfman."

All My Internet Friends: We can has an anthem.

[livejournal.com profile] sister_wolf wrote Hailing From Parts Unknown, a Dark Angel/X-Men crossover, with Alec/Logan. Not the paralyzed Logan. (NC-17) Hot like burning!

Crush: Archie goes away to college! and they get together for a fundraiser! and then David has to stay over in Archie's dorm! which only has one bed! (I can only express my glee at this story through excessive use of exclamation marks.) Extremely cute. (Cook/Archuleta, NC017) (Yuletide story, so no author to list yet)

[livejournal.com profile] callmesandy wrote Listening To Body Heat, which has questions about jurisdiction, and banter, and is generally awesome. (Booth/Bones, PG-13)

Yuletide also gave us The Sandwich Story. Excerpt:

"Hobbes," Calvin says thoughtfully, perched on the sharply slanted roof outside his bedroom window. "Have you always been around?"

Hobbes looks very wise and takes a large bite of his tuna sandwich. His reply is muffled and incomprehensible around the food.

Calvin takes this to mean that Hobbes doesn't know, either.

The sky looks bigger the closer you get to it, he notices. With the window shut, lying against a gurgling tiger belly, he can pretend that he is up in the stars (like Spaceman Spiff). He almost can't hear Mom calling his name.

It is fantastic! and weepy! and you will love it!

Apparently there's more over at Yuletide than just this one? I am looking forward to reading them.

The Charm is a great Indy/Marion, with three moments at three very different places in their lives. (Yuletide, so anonymous.) (Indy/Marion, NC-17)

In Winter Enjoy is a Merlin Secret Santa offering that's just delicious. The boys go skating, have a snowball fight and cuddle in front of the fire. But in character! Marshmallow fluff for your cocoa, this is. (Arthur/Merlin, PG-13)

[livejournal.com profile] allemande wrote The Trouble With Being An Idiot, in which Arthur gets a clue, but Merlin? not so much. Sweetness ficified. (Arthur/Merlin, PG)

Danegen made this awesome Arthur/Merlin vid, If I Was (Your Girl), in which there is excessive sword-fondling. Wait, did I say excessive? I mean perfectly fitting.

[livejournal.com profile] doompaw wrote Fragment, a "one of the ways Arthur found out" story, where Camelot goes to war, and Merlin's faced with a desperate choice. Excellently written. (Arthur/Merlin, PG-13)

[livejournal.com profile] jade_dragoness wrote The Dragon Was A Blabber-mouth, an excellent ficlet where Arthur, after hearing Yenta!Dragon say that he can't be complete without his soulmate, and inspired by his father, decides to kiss everyone in the castle. A kissin' test. Which Gwen almost passes! a situation that flips Merlin out! (Arthur/Merlin, PG-13 for kissin')

[livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis wrote Four Times Merlin Cock-blocked Arthur, And One Time He Didn't. DO YOU NEED MORE REASON TO CLICK? I THINK NOT. (Arthur/Merlin, NC-17)

[livejournal.com profile] phantomjam wrote Questions Better Left Unanswered, where Arthur finds Merlin on the battlements, in the rain. Excellent wee moment. (Arthur/Merlin, PG)

[livejournal.com profile] raphaela667 wrote Everything's Going To Get Lighter (Even if It Never Gets Better), a fantastic future!fic much in the style of The Once & Future King. Gwen is Arthur's Queen, but not his lover; Morgana is sapping Merlin's strength; Merlin's trying to keep his pain from Arthur; and everyone knows the names of all the elephants in the room. Gwen POV. (Arthur/Merlin, Gwen/Lancelot, NC-17)

[livejournal.com profile] tristefic wrote <http://tristefic.livejournal.com/48519.html>Keepsake, a lovely story, Hunith-POV, where Hunith watches Merlin and Arthur, and considers them.

When You Were Born To Fly is an excellent SGA earthside AU where John is a commercial pilot, and Rodney is a prof commuting between Berkeley and MIT. They meet because Rodney throws a snit fit, in first-class, about the citrus in his meal. Which Laura is serving him. And John goes to calm him down. No author, since this is an SGA Secret Santa story. (McKay/Sheppard, NC-17, awesome)

In the fine tradition of SGA crack!fic, [livejournal.com profile] busaikko wrote Stationary Orbit, aka THE ONE WHERE THEY'RE SCHOOL SUPPLIES.

[livejournal.com profile] aesc wrote this Farm in Iowa Christmas morning snippet on a postcard and mailed it to Cate.

If by any strange chance you've missed it, go read Cate's new Farm in Iowa story! The Baby Jesus' PomPom's, in which John buys something that's supposed to be a nose warmer. For Rodney. But. Um. That is not exactly what happens.

[livejournal.com profile] audrarose wrote So Close To My Heart in which Jared is a pediatric heart surgeon and Jensen has a five-year-old son who was one of Jared's patients. And there is yearning and smoldering looks and an ex-wife in the background! God, so great. (J2, NC-17)

[livejournal.com profile] timewillbe wrote Incriminiating Evidence, where Jared is moving Jensen into his house, one of the boxes breaks open and Jared sees stuff he's not supposed to see. And then he can't stop thinking about it. (J2, NC-17)

[livejournal.com profile] apiphile's been writing a fantastic "Team B" universe, in which Ianto, Captain John and some other guy? (possibly a fandom crossover I am unfamiliar with) are sent by Jack to save the world. I especially enjoyed Team B: Marching Orders where they go to Siberia to check out suspected werewolf activity. Long, plotty, with a little sex (not between major characters, sadly) and a lot of flirting. Adventure stories! I love them! (R-ish, team!fic, gen)

I hope you all had a lovely holiday and that 2008 was good to you!
