Two weeks in the making, ladies & gentlemen. (By which I mean I was busy last week and didn't post the lists.)

To start with, outside of the cuts, I'd like to recommend Real Men Wear Suits for inclusion in your RSS feeds. Subscribing will make your day better, because the site posts things like this:

Also good is Nerd Boyfriend, a picture blog that makes me happy by posting photos of young Jack Lemmon, among other people.

And now onto everything else!

Buffy kicks Edward Cullen in the face. Admit it, you've been thinking about it ever since you read Twilight out of curiousity and then realized you'd never get those hours of your life back. [Thanks to Lelia at Bookshelves of Doom!]

"Old Jews Telling Jokes" is such a fabulous, adorable concept for a series of vids. I can never resist, particularly since this week's old Jew is Ed Koch.

There are no known archival videos of Nijinsky dancing, which is unfortunate, because eye-witness accounts were raptuous. However, Christian Comte, a smart cookie who works in animation, took photos of Afternoon Of A Faun and turned them into this:

Kind of amazing, yes? Here's the New Yorker article, and here's Comte's YouTube account. (Also, if you'd like to read more about Nijinsky, who was a genius and who went mad and had to retire at 29, Acocella also has an article here about trying to recreate one of his ballets, and she's also edited his diary. I find him fascinating.

KILL IT. KILL IT DEAD. (Video found via BookNinja, and I stole George's caption, too.)

The Merril Library of Sci Fi has some neat things going on this summer. The Toronto Public Library system in general rocks my socks, but I particularly like going to this space.

Dear god, this DIY sculpture is amazing. (Link includes instructions!)

This recycled-CD iPhone dock is neat, and also ironic.

I'm enjoying this original fiction: The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland In A Ship Of Her Own Making, by Catherynne Valente.

Doesn't peas with prosciutto and mint sound like the perfect summer meal? [CheapHealthyGood]

My friend Liz sent this to me with the subject line "Adorable crisis!": Wallabies are going into poppy fields, getting high, then making crop circles. Lordy. And I thought I had a bad day. [MSNBC]

This optical illusion is kind of nifty.

Embedding on this is disabled, so here's the link instead: there's a bird who does the moonwalk! Neat!

You know those frustrating traffic jams that don't seem to have a reason except for the fact that everyone is going more slowly? Apparently there's math to explain it! And that math can be used to build animated models of the traffic jams! [From the BoingBoing post here]

The world's oldest functioning planetarium is extremely cool.

Ten Highly-Suggestive Automative Print Ads, of which the first - with the tagline "You Know You're Not The First," superimposed over a gorgeous woman - is possibly my favourite. [Neatorama]

Jezebel posted photos of this kiddie fashion show. The commentary is amazing.

Homeless guy smashes other homeless guy in the face with a skateboard after quantum physics argument. Does anyone else read that and immediately think "SGA AU"? Especially since the SanFran Chronicle is hosted on a site called "SFGate"?

Apparently sheep can be a real pain in the ass. [Neatorama]

The Top 10 Most Absurd Time Covers Of The Past 40 Years will make you roll your eyes a lot.

Patrick Farley ([profile] pfarley) posted A Graphical Overview of The Same Sex Marriage Debate, helpfully colour-coded as to "for" and "against" arguments. Pretty thorough, for a flow-chart on a sticky topic.

If you find yourself stuck in an oppressive regime, here's a handy how-to communicate guide.

Sady at Tiger Beatdown, wrote a great post about Michael Jackson: Michael Jackson: Celebrity, Empathy & The Culture of Silence. Warning: if you only want to read happy loving posts on MJ, walk on by this one.

This piece in BookNinja mag on sex in fiction is very relevant to my interests.

The next time you come up against someone arguing against vaccines (particularly if they've been duped into thinking that vaccines cause autism), you could point them to Roald Dahl's article about measles.

This wood-encased iPod mini is just lovely. [BoingBoing Gadgets]

I would never have thought "My Chucks would look better with spats" if I hadn't seen this. [CraftZine]

There are more nerd merit badges!

Did I post this already? Well, whatever, I still want Lucy Knisley's Zombie Invasion poster.

(Trek Fannish Misc will be posted with the Recs set.)

Terrible fannish names for babies are terrible. They're right - "Serenity" is a stripper name. [Temerity Jane]

What's going on in international SFF? Apparently one thing is French steampunk that I won't get to read until I learn to read French. This whole article is interesting, though.

River & The Reavers are an awesome fannish band, and this is their myspace page, which has streaming music. I particularly like "Open Letter To My Captain."

I don't know about you, but picspams of beautiful men being beautiful always make me happy. In this case, the beautiful men in question are Ryan Reynolds, Michael Weatherly and David Duchovny. (More evidence of Ryan Reynolds' lickability.)

Scott at TV Over Mind writes an open letter to Joss about how he thinks Buffy should become a franchise, a la the DC comics properties. Hmmm. This is an interesting way to think about it, although I had a gut reaction of "GOD NO. DO NOT WANT" when the Kuzui's were talking about making a new Buffy movie.

Onto recs! My intention really wasn't to post these at 10PM on Sunday... but my five hour nap this afternoon got in the way.
