merrilyOkay, holy shit.
So, a couple of months ago, I posted a link to this article, by Jimmy Carter, about his decision to leave the Southern Baptist church.
And I sent him a thank-you card, for his commitment to female equality, and for the self-sacrificing awesomeness of his gesture, and just for being here and making the world better.
AND TODAY HE WROTE BACK.
It's just a one line "thanks & best wishes" note, but a) I didn't expect him to do that and b) it's in his handwriting!
A photocopy of my card, with his note on it. I guess that's how he gets through replying to the thousands of letters (I assume?) that arrive for him daily.

Also, the envelope it came in - instead of having a postmark or a stamp (or a return address) has HIS SIGNATURE in the top right-hand corner, with text underneath that says "postage and fees paid". HOW BADASS ARE YOU, JIMMY CARTER!
