Mar. 19th, 2010 06:16 pmSF writer Dr. Peter Watts convicted of assault, in a horrific case of "talk to border guards and they decide to beat the hell out of you and then lie about it". I posted about the incident leading to his charge earlier here.
(ETA - It turns out Peter was convicted of "disobeying a border guard" - which is a thing, I guess? I am TOTALLY OUTRAGED that it is a thing you can be convicted of.)
I'm shocked and appalled. If you are also shocked and appalled, and currently on the "doing okay" financial side (or even on the "there's two bucks left in my PayPal account which I don't need" financial side), please consider sending cash to help him defray the costs of launching an appeal.
