I need to buy a netbook for a trip to Ecuador. What should I get, dudes? I'm looking @ secondhand options -- that is, craigslist. I'd love to hear from those of you who own one about what you like or hate about yours.

(Also, I think I shall try to resell it upon my return.)

If you're planning for a short-term thing, then the most important feature is probably comfort. Because they're small, I've heard a lot of people who've said that using netbooks is an exercise in frustration. So you might want to go to the local computer place and try some out for typing comfort.

I bought an Acer pretty cheap and installed a dual-boot of jolicloud on it since I don't like Windows 7. It's a pretty good netbook, you might like it.

Make sure you're comfortable with teh keyboard size if you're going to use it regularly for typing. I have a Dell 10V (1011) and the keyboard is close enough to normal size that I can type on it without huge adjustment, but it's small enough to literally fit in my bag. Mine's size is 10.1 I think?

I have one of the original 9" Asus Eee line, and I adore it. Getting used to the keyboard didn't take much time at all, and it's so compact that I can travel with it almost as easily as I can drag it from room to room. I loved having it on the plane on my last con trip.

The only issue is that it has limited HD space, but with the 16G card I popped in, it stores everything I need it to do. Newer models have a greatly expanded HD, like 80 to 160 G.
