The Power of Blog

Apropos of a stunningly quick offer by Bolthouse Farms to call me and talk about my complaint regarding their "it's the consumer's fault" press release:
I write a lot of civically-minded letters. I figure most people in my 'hood get pissed off about the same things that I do, but that most people don't bother letting those involved know how they feel. I am committed to Taking The Time. It's important, as a consumer and citizen, to make sure that your voice is heard when people, companies and institutions are misbehaving.
And one's voice is heard and responded to much more quickly, I've found, when you add the magic words: "I'm an active blogger. Your response -- and the length of time it takes you to respond -- may be blogged."
Really. It's the fastest way to get people to pay attention. If they know that future attempts at googling their name will result in widespread knowledge of their assholery, companies will be polite and prompt.
I recommend y'all try it.
Also? Lay off the carrot juice, for your own safety.
(For the record, I hadn't threatened to blog about Bolthouse. So they get points.)
