The late-night, ate too many carbs at lunch and slept 'till 8PM edition! (On that note, may I suggest, if ever you find yourself at the Drake Hotel in Toronto for brunch on a Sunday, ordering the southern-fried chicken and waffles, with creme fraiche and sour cherries? Dear god in heaven, it was good. And coma-inducing.)

Outside the cut - my favourite new blog is Awful Library Books. You will like it!

This compiled group of "creationism for kids!" clips might be more likely to piss you off than make you happy, but watch it for the lulz. [Via Jezebel - click the link if you can't see the embed]

This apparently has to do with Japan caring about the environment. WTF, Japan. [found via BoingBoing]

I am really looking forward to flying New Zealand Air. [Vid here if embed isn't working.]

The University of Illinois upped it's energy efficiency and saved 5 mill. I am impressed! [EcoGeek]

I never thought about it before, but someone had to design the space suit, right? And doesn't that seem like an awesome and bizarre thing to have done? Here's an interview with Bill Elkins, who helped make the first one, along with inventing a kazillion other gizmos that astronauts use.

I want a pet but probably not this one.

Turns out solar power can be ridiculously good-looking. [EcoGeek]

The 2009 winners of the Bulwer-Lytton contest have been named! If you've never come across it before, the Bulwer-Lytton is "a whimsical literary competition that challenges entrants to compose the opening sentence to the worst of all possible novels." It's inspired by & named after the dude who wrote the book that began "it was a dark and stormy night".

Ript: The Revolutionary Torso-Enhancing Undershirt is made of pure, unadultered win. I hope to see many beer-bellied men wearing this in the near future.

These ads for the Calgary Zoo are so cute I can bearly stand it. (Get it? Bearly stand it? I'm so hilarious.) [Canadian Design Resource]

I would take either of these peeps to be my nerd boyfriend.

If there are Jambassadors, are Canadians abroad "canbassadors"? and what would we be ambassadors of - unnecessarily saying sorry, while wearing Birks?

The Don Martin Dictionary includes a sound for Captain Kirk crying. Don Martin was a Mad cartoonist, and, in case you're wondering, apparently when Captain Kirk cries, he goes "bahoo bahoo bahoo". [via BoingBoing]

The Lord Of The Rings as a role-playing game interpreted as a comic strip is so awesome I can barely stand it.

This vintage D & D commercial is... less enticing. [Here on YouTube if the embed doesn't work]

This pretty much encapsulates how I feel about Pixar & Dreamworks. (I don't know where I found this? someone twittered it.) (Also, see this related story.)

I guess I should've seen this coming.
