It's reading week! Or, in more practical terms, "the week in which I spend all my time online". So have some links, courtesy of my academic schedule and the fact that my mitten empire means I don't have to pick up extra bookstore shifts for a while.

Links: Happy-making Vids
Five vids!

1. Barbershop Mario Bros. totally made my day:

If you're experiencing embedding fail, you can watch the Finnish male acappella group "All Your Bass" sing this happy-making medley here on the YouTubes.

I also recommend their version of the Imperial March from Star Wars.

2. I promise it will make your day better to watch this line dance to "Love Train" on 1973's tv show Soul Train:

You can also find it here on the YouTubes, if the embed's not working.

3. So, Der Untergang. We've all seen that scene, right? In the bunker? Which has been remixed a million times to make Hitler parody videos?

What if Hitler wanted to make a Hitler parody video? THEN WHAT?

You can watch it here on YouTube if the embed isn't working.

4. ILU, Jesse Brown:

Watch Jesse's "save the newspaper parody!" for his vlogcast, Search Engine, here on YouTube.

5. I love The Muppets' YouTube Channel. Have some Beaker playing Dust In The Wind, and getting trolled by mean YouTubers.

Here's the link in case of embed fail.

To Make
It's going to be a while before we can use bioplastics to make action figures in our kitchen, but I have hope that eventually it'll work out! Here's a How-To post, if you want to get started. [ShapeWays, via BoingBoing]

I am going to try this recipe immediately, since both Alton Brown and Kris @ CheapHealthyGood are giving it the thumbs up (and also because it's possible the only things in my fridge are bread, sardines and an avocado): A Delightful Alton Brown Recipe: Sardine Avocado Open-face Sandwiches (No, Really). [CheapHealthyGood]

This Chesire Cat papercraft is amazing.

To Do
Do you guys read Sady Doyle over at Tiger Beatdown? She writes about ladybusiness, and does, I think, a pretty awesome job. Anyway, she's decided to run a pledge drive, since writing the blog is work, and she likes doing it, and it would be nice if she could buy groceries. I sent her the coupla bucks kicking around my PayPal account. If you also read her blog, and you like it, and you're able to send money, perhaps you should!

If you're in the middle of the snowpocalypse, it might be a good time to learn to snag stuff with a whip! (Though really, when's a bad time to learn that? ... okay, I guess "when you really need that vine on the other side of the gaping pit" would be a bad time.)

Links: Science! and Tech
So, scientists did a DNA test of King Tut, and you will not believe the shit they found out. [National Geographic]

Some folks over at UCLA have invented crystals that capture CO2 more efficiently than any other current tech. No word on how efficient it is compared to, say, a rhododendron plant or, you know, the rainforests we've cut down. [EcoGeek]

Use gmail? I bet you've been looking for this. (You're welcome.) [Your Monkey Called]

Science Daily says it's probably better for us to run barefoot. Huh.

I am amazed by the stuff we will soon be able to print at home - like these lithium batteries! The future, my friends: we live in it. [EcoGeek]

Links: Misc. Neato and/or Silly
Neato
The Beeb is reporting that it's now an option for India prison inmates take yoga to reduce their jail sentences. I am in favour! [BBC]

Often the women whom Scott @ The Sartorialist photographs are breathtakingly beautiful aliens. However, I totally adore this woman whose pic he posted yesterday. She looks delightful. And human. [Sartorialist]

I feel this fire-breathing snowman is proof that Calvin, and Hobbes, are still out there, getting up to hijinx. [Baltimore Sun]

Have you been wondering what Janeane Garofalo's been up to lately? Turns out, not much. i disapprove! I want Janeane to star in many many movies! [Jezebel]

Silly
Dudes, I'm filing this under "silly" only because I don't have a category for "insane": Iranian Government blocks website 'Good Reads'.

To Infinity!

Links: Stuff I Want
This pull-string pig toy is the best thing I've ever seen. [Antiques Roadshow]

Earlier this week I reassured an flister that it was okay to give her toddler a whisky cupcake, since baking evaporates alcohol. It would not, however, be okay to give toddlers whisky toothpaste.

Out of Print Clothing Co. has just launched a series of shirts for women, featuring reprints of beautiful book cover art. Obviously, I want all of them.

If I had babies, I would get this for them.

If you, or someone you love, knits, you probably want to buy this poster. [Etsy]

Links: Fannish Misc.
I couldn't figure out whether to put these under "Things I Want" or "Fannish Misc". They're going here, but I absolutely, extremely want these amazing minimalist travel posters for various Star Wars locations.

So apparently, someone at the Belarusian national tv station saw The Big Bang Theory, and was all "Well, it's pretty good, but it would be better in our language". Behold The Physicists! Word on the street is that they're reusing TBBT plotlines -- can anyone tell which TBBT story this ep is? [BoingBoing]

Isn't it amazing that no matter what entirely ridiculous thing Robert Downey Jr is doing, you still kind of want to lick him?

The Daleks did warn us that resistance is futile. Too bad this guy didn't listen.

Dear Fox Mulder, Hell yes. Love, Rachel
