Diana Gabaldon is mad as hell about fan-fic (her hyphen, not mine) and isn't going to take it anymore.

Which is lovely, because Fandom_Wank has covered it, and the resulting comments are the best thing I've read in weeks.

I don't necessarily recommend reading Gabaldon's blog entry, and I certainly don't recommend replying to her, but I absolutely suggest you go over to Fandom_Wank, preferably with a bowl of popcorn.

I've got Diana Gabaldon's latest novel on the bookshelf; I've been meaning to read it for ages but there's too much fanfic to catch up on! I look forward to reading about her wanky antics.

Now there's an argument DG could've made that we would have understood: "I hate fanfic because everyone's busy reading the new Sherlock Holmes epic, and no-one's reading me. :-("
