This German bicycle has a USB port to charge your iPhone/iPad/iPod/whatever while you cycle. So much more useful to me than a bike that powers its own lights!

Incredible papercraft/marionette short film about what happens when a whale dies and its body decomposes. I kid you not, this is gorgeous. There is nothing icky about it. Could be shown to small children.
Here is an interesting BoingBoing article about treating Crohn's Disease and IBS with the Specific Carbohydrate Diet [link]. I think there's a lot to be said for trying to solve digestive problems with diet, instead of medication.

I think we can agree that pin-up poses and the stances female figures take in sf cover art are generally ridiculous. To illustrate that point, have some dudes re-enacting said poses: Men-Ups! [a Flickr set] and Jim Hines looking sultry.
A List of Don'ts For Women On Bicycles Circa 1895 Reading this list made me desperate to know what "bicycle face" is. Anyone? Post pics in comments.

Given that it's January, and I don't drink any cold drinks, these ice cube molds in the shape of penguins on an iceberg aren't all that practical. But I looooooove them.
