It's the long, dark tea-time of the soul, and I rented The 4400 to make up for my tragic lack of West Wing, only to discover that it sucks hard. "Well," I thought, "I understand why that was cancelled"... except it wasn't! It's still on! WTF! The plot development's purposely hand-wavy ("I've eliminated 24 of the 37 suspects for reasons you don't care about"), the writing bites, often medical advice/opinion offered is just incorrect ("coma victims never regain consciousness without cause") and the most memorable acting came from day-players who were there for only one episode.

Maybe it gets better in the second season, but I just don't care. I could feel myself getting stupider as I watched it.

I don't remember if I could happily watch dumb tv before Joss Whedon and Aaron Sorkin, but I certainly can't now.

I haven't seen it - I don't have cable, or really any tv access at all, actually, since my rabbit ears broke. However, I fully intend to catch up... as soon as I finish TWW. If I ever get to finish TWW.

I thought it was a very good show. I got a bit tired of the Big Romantic Sub-Plot between Matt Perry's and Sarah Paulson's characters. But for the most part, an intelligent and funny show.

Random piece of trivia:
Sarah Paulson, who was Harriet in Sorkin's show, was the researcher in the hallogram in Whedon's Serenity. Small world, eh?

"Hurry now, young miss" researcher? The one the Operative terrifies?

Huh. Charmed life she has, that one.
