It was totally, entirely foolish of me to doubt, but, yeah, it took me a couple of hours before I finally clicked on the link for [livejournal.com profile] astolat's new story, Old Country. It's an SPN/HP crossover, and what can I say. I'm burned out on HP.

BUT OMG, you guys!

Sample:

Sam wasn't anywhere out in the open, and finally Dean went down to the Slytherin dungeon rooms. "My brother in there?" he asked the portrait over the door, a narrow-faced man with a vandyke and a narrow, crystal-topped walking stick.

"He is," the portrait said. "Password?"

"Huh, let me think," Dean said. "Is it, open the fuck up before I cut you out of that frame and torch you?"

GO READ IT NOW. I swear, it's the most awesome piece of Dean Winchester awesomeness that I've read in weeks. The laughing, you will be doing it.

I just dropped the last of the HP communities from my fList. Book 7 may trigger an influx of new work and inspire some interesting new fic/art/vid, but right now it seems stagnant, and no-one's contributing work I'm interested in.

Am I missing something, o flist? Are there really good writers you know of who are still active in HP? Is there a daily HP newsletter of quality fic that I should subscribe to?

I can't write HP fanfic, and that pisses me off.

I remind myself, when I am attempting to do so and notice steam coming out of my ears, that I loved Firefly fanfic for a good six months before I started writing it )

Anyway, it's been an hour since I started writing this rant, and I've now convinced myself that I'm over-reacting, so I'm going to go read some Captain Underpants books and find a non-creepy way to watch kids in the park, and, armed with that knowledge, I'll try an R/S pairing again, later.
