merrilyDid you guys hear the new Hockey Night in Canada theme song? I've been humming it all weekend... and thinking about how it could totally be an SGA story.
Can't you just see it?
Rodney secretly enters--five times! under five different pseudonyms!-- and keeps engineering the data bursts to get updates on the CBC contest. He monitors the voting and is Ver. Smug when one of his songs briefly tops Randy Bachman's submission.
Sadly, though, there is no one he can share the pride with -- until he hears Chuck talk about it one day in the mess! and runs over to chat with him about it! but then he hears Chuck say that he's pulling for the music teacher, and Rodney is pissed off. He asks, weakly, "but what about that other guy? the Toronto cat sitter? with the entry called Icing On The Cake?" Chuck hates that piece, but John overhears and totally sees through Rodney's pretend Not Caring, and the next time they're on earth, he checks the CBC website and figures out what all Rodney's pseudonyms are, and starts surreptitiously humming the songs, a move that that immediately, unconsciously, puts Rodney in a better mood.
